Dark Knight Sketch Cards

Contrary to what Robert Downey Jr. and my buddy Avi thinks, I thought The Dark Knight was a pretty shweet flick. Yeah it was a bit long in the tooth, but Heath Ledger could not have been better. To celebrate my love for this film (in particular the Joker) I did a bunch of sketch cards based on the characters (in particular the Joker). Check 'em out!

Also, I'm working on some sketch cards for Marvel Masterpieces III which I will be posting soon. Keep checking back, and tell your friends. And as always, check my ebay store for current art auctions...

Did I mention how much I liked the Joker?

What I'm working on...

I just started working on 100 sketch cards for the Heroes Volume 2 trading card set for Topps. It took a while for NBC to approve my work for some reason, and therefore I'm about a month late getting started on these. I'm also way behind on commissions, so I am not going to be accepting any new commissions for a while. If anyone reading this is waiting for art from me... soon! I promise.

Thanks,

Randy

Full Time Freelance!

So, in an act of foolish defiance I went and quit my day job so I could focus on being an artist. Stuff was just piling up on me (Indiana Jones 4 sketch cards), and something had to give. My art is more important in the long run, so hopefully everything will work out. Now that I have no guaranteed income I will of course be pimping more art on eBay, and will have more time for commissions. Please check the link below if interested in purchasing some art.

I am still doing privately commissioned sketch cards for anyone interested. Unfortunately I'm forced to raise my rates to $25 for b/w, and $45 for full color. These prices include shipping ($5 extra for international orders). All sketch cards are done on 110 lb. card stock, traditional trading card size 2.5"x3.5". Paypal preferred. Contact me for details.

LOTR Masterpieces II out now!

The new Lord of the Rings Masterpieces II card set of which I contributed 106 sketch cards to has finally been released by Topps. I've been keeping an eye on ebay and various sketch card related message boards, and have seen a few of my cards have already been pulled. The LOTR fans are rabid collectors, and some of these cards sell for quite a bit. I'm really happy to be a part of all of this, and honored to be able to contribute to the fandom of this legendary series. Next up... Indiana Jones! This is definitely a fanboy's dream come true!

LOTR Masterpieces II

So, it's official. I'm going to be contributing sketch cards to the upcoming LOTR card set Masterpieces II from Topps. I'm really excited, as this is my first venture into the sketch card biz. It will be a lot of work, but it will definitely be worth it. Also, I'm still doing private commissions, so get one while you can because I'll be very busy in the coming months.

Cheers - Randy

SLAVE LEIA ON EBAY

I've been very productive if not damn prolific with my art lately. I'm pretty happy with the way things are turning out, and I've actually got a bunch of jobs lined up. Well, enough patting myself on the back for one night. On to business. Because some of these jobs haven't started yet I need to make some money elsewhere. I have a Princess Leia (in slave gear of course) on ebay. Please take a look, and bid, bid, bid.

OK, now that I'm done pimping my shit I want to mention that I've been watching the British show 'Spaced' on DVD. I highly recommend it, really funny stuff from Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz). I've heard that McG is doing an American version. I don't think it will be as good, but I'm sure it will be a hit.

In celebration of this new direction for my work I am also doing privately commissioned sketch cards for anyone interested. My rates are $25 for b/w, and $40 for full color. These prices include shipping ($10 extra for international orders). All sketch cards are done on 110 lb. card stock, traditional trading card size 2.5"x3.5". Paypal preferred. DOCTOR WHO

I've recently started watching the new Doctor Who series, and I must say I've really enjoyed the first season. Christopher Eccleston is a great actor. It's too bad he only did one season, but I look forward to watching season two nonetheless. Here is a quick illustration of the Doctor and his companion Rose.

COMMISSIONS PLEASE!

I finally got around to watching Transformers, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Michael Bay didn't completely screw the pooch on this one, and the results were actually entertaining. I am by no means a T-formers purist, so maybe the fact that I went in with no expectations helped. Maybe I need to do that with more films these days because I seem to be left disappointed more often than not.

On to more important stuff. I have some cool projects on the horizon including a gang of sketch cards for a few different companies, and I am also revamping my character 'Komodo' for a series of illustrations. I am shooting some reference photography with a new model, and I am very excited. I will post the results in the coming months. I have some time for commissions in between projects, so please feel free to email me for details.

Regards - Randy

Here's a hint at one of the things I'm working on.
